ReluxDesktop – System and hardware requirements

System requirements based on ReluxDesktop version 2021.1.1.0

Supported Operating Systems
Windows 10

Comment for MAC OS systems:
ReluxDesktop cannot be run natively on MAC OS or other Linux derivatives.
On these platforms it runs only inside an emulation layer called Virtual Machine.
To be more precise, a MS Windows Virtual Machine must be created using visualization software such as Virtualbox.

Supported Graphics Cards
Video memory (VRAM):
Minimum 1 GByte
Optimal: 4 GByte or more.

OpenGL
At least OpenGL version 4.5 is needed.

Note: ReluxDesktop tries to detect potential graphics card incompatibilities by switching to Mesa mode.
Mesa mode processes 2D and 3D visualization as a software emulation, which means the hardware acceleration of the graphics card cannot be used.
The advantage of this mode is its reliability. The downside is slower execution of ReluxDesktop.
This mode can be activated manually in ReluxDesktop via Extras->Options->General setting.

Main memory (RAM)
Minimum required: 8 GB RAM
Optimum: 16 GB RAM or more

Note: ReluxDesktop is a 32-bit program. This means the program can use 2GByte RAM at most.
The exception are the standard calculation engines for artificial and daylight calculations.
They can use the entire main memory of 64-bit operating systems, and thus makes it possible to calculate very large projects.

Processor (CPU)
Minimum required: Intel or AMD processor with 4 or more cores and 2GHz clock frequency.
Optimum: Intel or AMD processors with 8 or more cores.
For example, the AMD Ryzen or Intel Core i7 series
